Frequently Asked Questions

  • We have a whole bunch of “D&D for beginners” videos, click here to find out more!

  • We often get asked “what is D&D, how do you play?” and it feels impossible to explain it, especially to your Nan. The easiest way to explain Dungeons & Dragons is to describe it as a collaborative storytelling game. One person (the Dungeon Master) sets the scene and plays the world, while everyone else plays characters within that world. Together, you create a story by describing what your characters do, making choices, and rolling dice to see how those choices play out.

It may also help to show them by throwing a scenario at them, such as “You’re walking down the forest path, and in the distance, you hear a rustle. Out jumps a goblin who wants to steal your money. What do you do?” And then whatever reaction they describe, roll a dice and see what the outcome is.

And there you have it; you’ve played D&D!

  • A D&D one-shot is a complete tabletop role-playing adventure designed to be played in a single session (or a short, self-contained run). Unlike long campaigns that unfold over months or years, a one-shot tells a full story from beginning to end in just one game.

  • With every purchase, you’ll receive a complete PDF pack, including a story booklet containing everything the DM needs to run the adventure. You’ll also get character sheets for the recommended number of players (though you’re more than welcome to create your own), as well as maps and imagery to support the world-building of the story. From time to time, we’ll even sprinkle in a bit of multimedia—whether that’s a song or a video—to enhance the experience.
